A great way to teach kids about the movement of the Earth and the position of the Sun in the sky is to have them make a sundial using a Dalek plunger and a big piece of paper!

On a sunny day they place the paper on the ground and then stand up the plunger on the paper. In small teams they trace the shadow the plunger arm makes on the paper at different times throughout the day.
